Jane Austen Cover Stories (Fine Art Print)
This museum-grade fine art print reproduces an original artwork by Vanessa Brassey on a handmade porcelain book. Celebrating Jane Austen's enduring literary legacy, and her regrettable need to publish anonymously covering up her real identity.
The artwork combines painting, ceramics and literature, transforming the familiar form of a book into a three-dimensional portrait of the author. The porcelain spine bears the title The History of Cover Stories Vol. 1, while fragments of text and references to Austen's literary achievements are woven into the painted surface, exploring the relationship between authorship, identity and the stories we tell.
An open edition, printed to order using archival pigment inks on Hahnemühle fine art paper, selected for its subtly textured surface, warm white tone and ability to capture the brushwork and character of the original artwork.
